Who we are

Swell is a one-person web design and advertising business operating in Suffolk and Nassau County, New York. Contact details are at the bottom of every page of this site, and reaching a person is the fastest way to get anything on this page actioned.

What we collect

Only what you give us, plus the minimum a web server records to function.

• From the quote form: your name, your phone number, the service you are interested in, and optionally your email address and a message.
• If you call or text: your phone number and whatever you tell us.
• Standard server logs, which include IP addresses, kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.
• A single browser storage entry recording whether you chose light or dark mode. It never leaves your device and identifies nobody.
• Meta Pixel cookies (_fbp, and _fbc if you arrived from a Facebook or Instagram ad), set by this site so we can tell which of our own ads produce enquiries.

The advertising pixel, and what it can see

An earlier version of this page promised that if we ever added an advertising pixel we would say so here, before it went live, and name the platform. So: this site runs the Meta Pixel, belonging to Meta Platforms, Inc., which operates Facebook and Instagram. We sell advertising, we advertise this business on Meta, and without the pixel we cannot tell which of our own ads produce a phone call.

It records that a page was viewed, and that the quote form was submitted successfully. It does not receive the contents of the form. Your name, your phone number, your email address and your message go to us, to our database and to our phone — never to Meta.

We do not buy or sell personal data, we run no mailing list, and we use no other analytics on this site. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the pixel is not loaded at all.

Why we collect it

To call or text you back about the enquiry you sent, and to quote for the work. That is the entire purpose. We do not run a mailing list and we will not add you to one.

Where it goes

Five places, all in the United States:

• Vercel, which hosts this site and handles the request when you submit the form.
• Neon, a managed Postgres provider, where the submission is stored so an enquiry is not lost if an email bounces.
• Resend, which delivers the notification email to us. The email lands in a standard business inbox.
• Twilio, which sends us a text message the moment your enquiry arrives, so it is seen in minutes rather than whenever an inbox is next opened. That message carries your name, your phone number and what you asked about, and passes through your mobile carrier the way any text does.
• Meta Platforms, which receives the pixel data described above — page views and the fact that a form was submitted — and nothing you typed.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as there is a plausible reason to be in touch about them, and no longer than two years from your last contact with us. If you become a client, records connected to the work are kept for as long as the relationship lasts and then for seven years, because tax records have to be.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Call or email using the details in the footer and we will do it — there is no form and no process, and we will confirm in writing when it is done.

Residents of California, and of other states with similar laws, have specific statutory rights to access, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. California law does, however, treat the use of an advertising pixel for cross-context behavioural advertising as "sharing", whether or not money changes hands — so we say plainly that the Meta Pixel described above meets that definition. To opt out, switch on Global Privacy Control in your browser and this site will not load the pixel, or call or email us and we will handle it at our end. Everything you type into the quote form is outside this entirely: it is never shared with an advertising platform.

Children

This site is aimed at business owners. It is not directed at anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions — if a change matters to you and you would like to know what it replaced, ask and we will tell you.
